Cognosante Celebrates Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day

On Thursday, April 25, 2019, Cognosante participated in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day, allowing children an opportunity to shadow their parents and see what a typical workday is like. Now in its 26th year, this national public education program connects what children learn at school with the working world, while encouraging them to think imaginatively about family, education, and community.

Cognosante’s half-day event started off with breakfast, badging, and introductions. The creation of Cognosante badges simulated typical onboarding procedures that all Cognosante new hires experience. During icebreaker introductions, the children worked on their presentation skills while getting to know their colleagues for the day.

After a greeting from Chief Executive Officer Michele Kang, an exclusive tour of Cognosante’s headquarters was conducted. During the tour, they learned how each department functions and contributes to the overall success of the company.

Cognosante also hosted a couple of workshops. During these workshops, the children learned interview soft skills, created resumes geared toward their desired professions, and learned conflict management skills that are useful both on the playground and in the workplace.

They also had the opportunity to tour Cognosante’s Design Lab and learn the iterative process of design thinking, prototyping, and testing. This new knowledge was put to the test by planning and building devices for an egg drop challenge. Cognosante’s favorite robot, Pepper, also made an appearance. The children had a great time interacting with it and learning its features.

Cognosante would like to thank all the volunteers and parents who participated in this year’s event, creating an unforgettable learning experience.
