Spiro Fotopoulos is Cognosante’s General Counsel leading the company’s legal department. Spiro oversees the legal, ethics, and risk management activities of the company. Spiro is an established business leader with extensive legal experience in a broad spectrum of areas, including corporate law, government contracting, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), labor & employment, and general legal compliance.
Spiro has more than 25 years of legal experience, serving in both private and in-house practice. Before joining Cognosante, Spiro served as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at CACI International for more than seven years. He previously held the position of Vice President and Director of Legal Affairs at PRA International, a global clinical research organization. He was also Vice President and Associate General Counsel at PSINet, Inc., an international internet service provider. Prior to going in-house, Spiro was an associate at McGuireWoods LLP where he was a member of the firm’s Labor and Employment group. Before joining McGuireWoods, Spiro served as a law clerk for the Honorable N. Carlton Tilley, Jr., U.S. District Judge for the Middle District of North Carolina.
Spiro received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia, as well as a Juris Doctor from the Wake Forest University School of Law. He is licensed to practice law in Virginia and the District of Columbia.
