Summer Analysts Trained and Certified as Cognosante Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belts

Cognosante’s Internship program offers aspiring young professionals the opportunity to learn skills and knowledge through individual and group project experiences, plus through hands–on training and certifications. During an internship with Cognosante, Summer Analysts can expect to gain a combination of real–world business problem solving and professional development through training activities, which collectively will prepare college students for their first steps into a career.  

Types of Training and Certifications that Cognosante Offers Summer Analysts 

Our 2021 Summer Analysts participated in virtual classroom sessions for Cognosante’s Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt and Tools Training (LSSYB). The LSSYB is a professional methodology that many industries use to ensure business processes share a common language, eliminate waste, improve speed, and reduce operating costs.  

After they successfully completed a knowledge check, each Summer Analyst was issued a LSSYB certification, under the guidance of a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt. By participating in the training, Summer Analysts could apply their process improvement knowledge to project work at Cognosante.

Beyond just the summer internship application of the experience, the training and resulting certification are also relevant for business roles in many fields; adding to the interns’ growing skill sets.

More Information About Six Sigma 

Lean Six Sigma is a process improvement methodology that is used for a variety of industries, disciplines, and in many countries around the world, related to standardizing the quality of business processes.  

During the training and by receiving the certification, the 2021 intern cohort learned about Lean Six Sigma Principles: 

• Know what is important to the Customer or Client (Voice of the Customer) 

• • Review customer surveys, feedback reports, and other data 

• Improve Quality (Defects per million opportunity) 

• • Find out why and where the defects are occurring 
  • Devise ways to address the defects effectively 

• Center Around Target (Mean) 

• • Screen and prioritize issues by severity, frequency, likelihood of occurrence, etc. 

• Reduce Variation (Standard Deviation) 

• • Set up good metrics and measurement
