Ruhee Damle has studied Kuchipudi dance since 1990. She began her training with Guru Anuradha Nehru, director of Kuchipudi Kalanidhi, and completed her Ranga Pravesam under Guru Mallika Ramprasad, director of Bharatha Mallika School of Kuchipudi Dance. Her Kuchipudi training has benefitted from such renowned artists as Guru Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam, Guru Kishore Mosalikanti, and Guru Chandra Murthy (Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam’s nephew).
Ruhee has performed throughout the Washington, DC, area, including the White House, the Kennedy Center, the Department of State, and the Library of Congress. In 2007, she spent one year studying dance and choreography in Chennai, India. While there, she also had an opportunity to perform and teach in Pune and Mumbai, India. In addition to performing, Ruhee has taught Kuchipudi classes at Woodbridge High School’s Center for the Fine and Performing Arts, Metropolitan School of the Arts, and India International School.
She continues to further her training and performance career in Kuchipudi dance as an artiste while exploring new avenues of choreography with other Indian dances, as well as collaborations with different dance styles. Ruhee currently works as an Associate at Cognosante.
