Former CMS Deputy Director joins Cognosante as Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer

MCLEAN, VA. – Oct, 1 2014 – In support of Cognosante’s continuous growth Ms. Julie Boughn joined the company today as the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer.  Ms. Boughn has held various senior positions within CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) most recently being the Deputy Director of the Centers for Medicaid and CHIP Services.

Ms. Boughn’s primary focus will be on enhancing Cognosante’s capabilities to meet the demands of the swiftly evolving health IT industry, including business process modernization, data standardization and analytics.

At CMS Ms. Boughn also served as CMS’ Deputy Director of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, Chief Information Officer and Director at their Office of Information Services, and the Director of CMS’ Information Services Modernization Group. Ms. Boughn brings to Cognosante her experience and insights in leading multi-billion dollar government initiatives, including the design and implementation of the CMS Enterprise Data Center Strategy, implementation of Medicare Part D, the CMS Integrated Data Repository and  Medicaid.gov. With a career starting at the Social Security Administration, Ms. Boughn has spent a large portion of her career serving the welfare of the American people in the world of health.

Julie received her Master of Science in Information Systems and Technology degree from Johns Hopkins University, and both her Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Maryland. She has been recognized as recipient of the Presidential Rank Meritorious Executive Award, Employee’s Choice Award for Executive Leadership, and has been listed in Federal Computer Week’s Fed 100 and Information Week’s Health Care CIO 25.
