Cognosante’s Karen Price Receives Department of Defense Patriot Award

FALLS CHURCH, VA–JULY 11, 2019–Cognosante’s Director of Talent Acquisition, Karen Price, was recently presented with the Service Member Patriot Award by the Department of Defense (DoD) Office of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). “A very proud moment for me; to be formally recognized for supporting Chris as he leverages his unique skills to help us grow,” says Price. Individual managers, like Price, can earn Patriot Awards by supporting citizen warriors with flexible schedules and granting leaves of absence when necessary. Employer support for the National Guard and Reserve is critical to ensuring armed forces members who work in the private sector remain available for duty while remaining committed to both work and service.

Christopher Valdez, an Infantry Officer with the Virginia Army National Guard and a Cognosante employee, nominated Karen for enthusiastically supporting his military service while he works as part of her Talent Acquisition team. “Whenever I need to attend military training with my unit, Karen never hesitates to let me concentrate on the mission and return to work where I left off,” stated Valdez, Cognosante’s Veteran Recruiting Liaison.

At the formal presentation, Cognosante President, James Gordon, also signed the ESGR Statement of Support signifying the company’s continued efforts to be model employers in support of armed forces employees. ESGR was established in 1972 to bridge the gap between employers and service members’ commitments outside the workplace. The Statement of Support Program is the foundation of ESGR’s effort to encourage companies to back the brave men and women who make sacrifices in defense of our nation’s security.
