Cognosante President James Gordon spearheads the overall strategic direction and business growth of Cognosante, while also overseeing the internal operations of the company. Gordon is a seasoned information technology (IT) and business process outsourcing executive with more than 25 years of experience and extensive knowledge of Federal, state, commercial, and international customers.
Prior to joining Cognosante in 2019, Gordon served as Division President at Maximus Federal, where he was responsible for leading the divestiture of a General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) portfolio purchased by Maximus Corporation in 2018. Gordon led the merger and acquisition process and assumed a key leadership role as part of the divestiture.
Prior to the acquisition, Gordon spent 11 years at GDIT. As Vice President and General Manager at GDIT, Gordon provided executive leadership to more than 20,000 health and health IT professionals and led profit and loss divisions exceeding $1 billion in annual revenues. He has held numerous merger and acquisition roles and has managed a wide scope of operations in healthcare policy, fraud prevention, behavioral analytics, contact centers, and IT infrastructure.
Gordon has a passion for developing talent and excellent customer relationships. A trusted advisor to healthcare clients, teams under Gordon’s leadership supported the Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Veterans Affairs, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and more. Gordon earned a Bachelor of Science in International Banking and graduated cum laude from the University of Richmond in Richmond, VA.
