As Senior Vice President of Strategy, Bridget Gauer supports Cognosante’s growth objectives through strategic relationship development in new and emerging markets. By leveraging market analysis, business intelligence and subject matter expertise, Bridget helps guide and optimize the Cognosante business development strategy to focus on aligning internal growth goals with external growth opportunities. With over 25 years’ experience, including acquisition and team leadership, Bridget’s role is integral to Cognosante’s organic and growth-through-acquisition goals.
Bridget joins Cognosante from a tenured and successful career in the public sector. In 2015 she joined the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Information Technology Acquisition and Assessment Center (NITAAC) where she served as Deputy Director and Director until 2017. As the Director, she set the strategic vision for the NIH GWAC program, which consists of three contract vehicles: CIO-SP3, CIO-SP3 Small Business, and CIO-CS.
Prior to joining NITAAC, she served as the Division Director of Contracts for the Health and Human Services (HHS) Assistant Secretary of Preparedness and Response (ASPR) and the Acting Director for the Acquisition Program Support Division with the Office of Acquisition Management, Contracts, and Grants. Ms. Gauer has worked in several other leadership positions within the Federal Acquisition community including with the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Ms. Gauer is the recipient of numerous Government Awards and honors including the Chief Acquisition Officer’s Council Award for her efforts with Federal intern programs, U.S. Army Commander’s Award for Civilian Service, and the James Carroll Excellence in Management Award. She holds a B.S. in Recreation, an M.A. in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College, and a Master of Business Administration.
