Bob Darlington brings more than 30 years of executive-level experience within the government Information Technology (IT) services sector to his role as Senior Vice President of Cognosante’s Civilian business unit. He has proven experience delivering sustainable business growth, operational excellence, and process improvement. Bob joined Cognosante as part of the recent EIS acquisition – having been with EIS since 2007.
Bob leads service delivery, customer excellence, and growth for the Departments of State, Energy, Commerce, Labor, Transportation, Treasury, and the U.S. Postal Service and serves as a Program Manager for the General Services Administration (GSA) Alliant 2 Unrestricted Government-wide Acquisition Contract (GWAC) and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Patent Support contract. Previously, Bob managed the GSA Alliant Small Business and Treasury Total Information Processing Support Services (TIPSS 3) contracts.
Before joining EIS, and later Cognosante, Bob was Executive Vice President for Business Consulting at Pivotal Insight, a start-up company, and Project Performance Corporation (PPC) where he also managed the USPTO systems engineering contract. Bob was with American Management Systems (AMS) from 1993 until 2002 and served as the Deputy Director of the AMS Logistics line of business. Prior to joining AMS, Bob was an active duty U.S. Naval Officer. While on active duty, he served in a variety of assignments both afloat and ashore. Bob was selected as a Joint Chiefs of Staff intern and served as Special Assistant to the Chairman, Admiral Crowe. He is an alumnus of the University of Notre Dame and Harvard Business School.
