Cognosante expands YI Scholars program, helping first-generation college students

In 2017, for the third consecutive year, the YI Scholars Program will empower first-generation college students to build their workplace skillset during a summer fellowship at Young Invincibles, a national advocacy organization for young adults. This summer, however, the Cognosante Foundation-funded program has boosted its number of YI Scholars by 25%, from last year’s eight to 10.

The YI Scholars Program provides a $5,000 stipend (plus travel expenses) for fellows, with an emphasis on first-generation college students, so they can spend the summer at one of Young Invincibles’ four offices, working on research projects, policy initiatives, media strategy, and more.

The Cognosante Foundation funds the entire 10-week program and works closely with the YI Scholars during the summer, helping them develop their range of skills, such as public speaking, data analysis, and community organizing.
